Before TMS, I endured extended periods of depression and self-hatred. I worked with multiple psychologists and psychiatrists over several years, continuously trying new medications and therapy. I was consistent with my treatment, and thought that if I worked hard enough my depressed episodes would vanish. But deep depression still haunted me.
My APRN eventually suggested transcranial magnetic stimulation as a way to face my treatment-resistant depression. I spent hours looking through research and talking with my APRN, and the Neurostar TMS treatment seemed promising. I was lucky enough to get approved and started at the office of Dr. Malinas and Associates.
It’s hard to overstate how supportive the office staff were. They were devoid of judgment and brimming with empathy. I saw the incredible staff members interact with other patients and treat every individual with dignity and respect. Their kindness made me look forward to coming into the office every day.
I felt very blessed that the treatment sessions were quick and painless. And, astoundingly, within the first week I had more energy. Hope crept back in. I wasn’t instantly depression-free, but my depression began to lighten and I could accomplish more in a day than I had before. I continued to feel lighter as the six week program went on. To anyone considering TMS, please go for it. It can provide relief. It’s a stunning advancement in medical technology and I’m beyond grateful that it was recommended to me.
I’d like to express my eternal gratitude to the office staff. Their hard work saves lives. They work tirelessly to accommodate each individual, and truly tailor the treatment to each. I felt supported from the first phone call all the way to the last day, and beyond. I hope they each know how special and unique they are, and how each of their roles is essential. Words are inadequate, but thank you so much.

My name is Keith and I wanted to share my experience with TMS therapy. I have struggled with depression for as long as I can remember, and I have been on no less than 5 different medications with little to no improvement. I was referred to Dr. Malinas for TMS therapy and while I was initially skeptical, after 2 weeks of treatment I felt significantly better with much more energy and sleep quality. By the end of my treatment, I felt better than I have in more than 10 years. My friends and family noticed a big change in my attitude and energy level, and I have rediscovered the joy in my life.
Dr. Malinas, Aly and his staff are awesome and were extremely helpful and compassionate before, during and after my treatment. The sessions are a bit uncomfortable at first, but I got used to the sensation after the first week.
If, like me you have long fought depression and are frustrated that medications and counseling are not making a difference, take it from a practicing pharmacist, make the choice to try TMS. I truly believe it made a difference in my life and can for you as well.
